Scharnhorst

Gerhard von Scharnhorst was a Prussian general.
Two naval ships of Germany were named after the general:
- SMS Scharnhorst was an armored cruiser of World War I, sunk at the Battle of the Falkland Islands.
- The battlecruiser (or light battleship) Scharnhorst was launched in 1936, saw action in World War II and was sunk at the Battle of North Cape.
