Shanmugam Venkatesh

Shanmugam Venkatesh is an Indian football player. He was named "AIFF Player of the Year - 2004".

The All India Football Federation named Mahindra United midfielder Shanmugam Venkatesh as the player of the year on Tuesday while announcing the ninth edition of the National Football League that will commence in Kolkata on January 12- 2005.
The 25-year-old medio played a crucial role scoring six goals as Mahindra finished third in the last edition of the NFL behind East Bengal and Dempo Sports Club. Venkatesh was also Player of the Series in the 2005 Pakistan vs India three match football friendly series which ended 1-1 along with a draw, but Pakistan was declared winner on courtesy of a superior goal difference.

The third Hero Indian Sports Awards for 2004 were presented by Karnataka governor T.N. Chaturvedi in the presence of Hero Group director Pawan Munjal, HISA founder chairman and cricketer Kapil Dev and several sports personalities.(July 10, 2005 ) S. Venkatesh as the HISA Indian football player of the year.
