- The grammer and spelling seem okay and the essey says something. However, I believe you left out a vital point. Perhaps the single vital point. Answer this question. Who owns the computer equipment, who pays for the internet connections, who pays the electricity bills, who pays the rent or lease or mortgage for the housing of the Wikipedia servers, who pays for their air conditioning, who pays for their upkeep, etc. etc. etc. Somone owns the servers you see? Someone must pay a monthly fee or it all gets turned off automatically. Yes, Jimbo can reach over and throw a switch, but there is much more to it than his body's proximity to the switch. The switch is there, after all, because of Jimbo's clever idea, clever fund raising, etc. etc. etc. So it is not just one of those, "my finger is closer to the power switch than your finger is", not just a small issue like that. I restored this, as I didn't see a reason for the initial deletion. I don't see that it was discussed anywhere obvious. It was deleted as a "rant", but to me it looks like an essay. Friday (talk) 22:02, 20 July 2006 (UTC)
- Since a few people at Wikipedia:Deletion_review/Log/2006_July_21#Wikipedia:Jimbo_makes_mistakes agreed that undeleting is OK, I've restored this again. However to address the attack issue, I've commented out the one sentence that I assume is the cause of the disagreement. Friday (talk) 23:16, 21 July 2006 (UTC)

- I also note that your first deletion had a comment of "put it on your User page"- surely, if this were an attack, you would not suggest such a thing, right? Did it somehow become an attack page only after it was restored? This makes no sense to me. Friday (talk) 20:36, 21 July 2006 (UTC)

Would it help if this page was renamed to something like, I dunno, Wikipedia:Jimbo Wales is not infallible? That should be a less polemical wording, which is really the only complaint anyone seems to have with this. --tjstrf 08:55, 23 July 2006 (UTC)

I don't know if I would call this an attack page per se, but it seems rather naive and useless. By totally ignoring how Jimbo got to have control over the servers, it paints matters in an arbitrary way that for me makes it lose credibility. Jimbo's intelligence and smart decisions certainly played a role in Wikipedia's creation and sustained existence. If you wish to make a statement, you will need to work harder and perform more than a superficial analysis, in my opinion. — Knowledge Seeker দ 05:04, 24 July 2006 (UTC)

Simply not true. If I were somehow able to move my computer 1 centimeter closer to the power strip than Jimbo, I would still be just an admin, like I am now. The real reason that Jimbo has the final say is because he co-founded the place with Larry Sanger, and Larry's gone now... 1ne 01:07, 7 September 2006 (UTC)
