Retro Sj

Greetings. I am sj, or Samuel Klein. I am a Wikipedian, a laptop fiend, a mathematics and physics zealot, a clutch proofreader, and a long-time Bostonian. See my blog, SJ's Longest Now, for more. I have an xdi sj-entity, but no .sj domain (Svalbard and Jan Mayen having decided not to allow registrations). I have been here since January 2004. I am currently an administrator here and on the Nahuatl Wikipedia, and a steward for other Wikimedia projects; if you need assistance with a small project that does not currently have active administrators, feel free to ask for help.

I often communicate about what Wiki[p|m]edia does, and organizing local and international community events. I enjoy working on related projects: I am the secretary of the special projects committee, and have a server dedicated to analyzing and running regular statistics on Wikipedia data.

I work to expand the world's collection of free knowledge: identifying and freeing large data repositories and publications owned by well-meaning but copyright-confused people and groups. As of this August, I am the director of content for the One Laptop per Child association; helping to distribute access to these collections and the ability to contribute to them. Over the past two years I have worked at synchronizing Wikipedia-wide translations and bringing together translators from across the projects.

Things I love: physics, language, The City ++++, perma-tools, music, poetry, color, nature, meta-lists, stub-sorters, Life, F*C,
Things I loathe: simple dichotomy, navels, myopia, wanton arrogation, addiction to stasis.
Things I miss: all-hands public debates about the projects, quartile updates, GFDL flamewars, single-page VfD, Rambot, writing contests.
Things I am not: SJ, /SJ, e-SJ, sj, SJK, Sjc(+), SJK, SV, Sjc196, Sjorford, Essjay, -R, SJ Phone (sjphone.com), bearded woodsman sjklein, a Jesuit society, Gambro's CIO, Samuel the diarist, a My-Br temperament, a moral lawyer, a Burgess bird, a fabricated Sox fan, or a hiding girl. I do hoard Klein bottles, look snappy in a trenchcoat, but did not model for Levine's detective Sam Klein.
