Soldier (Neil Young song)
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Soldier is a song by Neil Young. It is an unfinished work from the 1973 unreleased album, Times Fades Away. It was later released on the two CD compilation Decade. The song observes how a soldier's eyes "shine like the sun." This is most likely referencing wide eyed young boys who return from war traumatized by the horrible things they have seen in battle. In the second verse of Soldier the speaker says he does not believe Jesus because he can't deliver right away. This may be an atheist comment referencing the fact that Jesus can't deliver right away to prayers or wishes, because he does not exist.
