The Z710 is a mobile phone produced by Sony Ericsson
The Z710i / Z710c technically resembles the company's best selling K750i candybar handset, albeit in a clamshell form. The two handsets share a number of features, such as Bluetooth, IR and USB connectivity, a 2 Megapixel camera, media player and FM radio abilities. The internal screen of the Z710i uses an identical resolution to that of the K750i, with the addition of antialiased fonts that make lettering more easily readable.
Notable differences between the Z710i and the K750i are as following.
- The Z710i uses a similar user interface to K750i, but adds multi-tasking functionality (the ability to simultaneously use two different applications), which the K750i lacks.
- The Z710i features USB-mass storage support. This means that the phone can be used with a PC without installing drivers beforehand, unlike the K750i.
- Several minor UI improvements have been implemented in the Z710i.
- RSS live feed functionality has been integrated into the Z710i.
- Unlike the K750i, the Z710i model allows users to disable USB charging by entering the phone's service menu.
- The Z710i's digital camera lacks K750i's flash, macro and auto-focus functionality.
- The Z710i uses a directional pad instead of a joystick. Joysticks are considered prone to weer and tear damage, and those found in Sony-Ericsson's phones have been particularly criticized in that respect.
- A number of changes due to the Z710i's use of clamshell form factor and presence of an external screen.
- The Z710i additionally supports flight-mode functionality and push e-mail.
- The Z710i uses Sony's new M2 flash card format instead of Memory Stick Pro.
The Z710i comes in two colours, called "twilight black" and "metallic sand". The handset weighs 101 grams and measures 88 x 48 x 24.5 mm which, according to the manufacturer, it provides the user with a compact and stylish handset.
