The South River flows through Stuarts Draft, Waynesboro, Grottoes, and points north.
[edit] Ecology
In Waynesboro, the DuPont (now INVISTA) plant, and others, heavily polluted the river with mercury. Now, it is unsafe to eat fish caught from the river and fishing most of the way up the South Fork of the Shenandoah River is catch-and-release only.
