[edit] Athletics
The Spruce Creek Athletic Program has won the Five Star Volusia County Trophy 6 times in a row dating back to the year 2000. It has produced several athletes of note including Ryan Lochte, US Olympic gold medalist swimmer. The Girls Weightlifting team has won several straight state championships, while the boys team was dethroned by one point in 2004-2005 by DeLand High School, but has since regained the state title. In 2006, the girl's softball team was runner up in the state tournament, losing to Palm Beach Gardens 3-1. [[4]]
Spruce Creek has had a very rich tradition with their men's weightlifing program. Coach David Ramey started the team with a handful of others back in the late 70's. Spruce Creek has won over 25 state championships in this event.
[edit] The IB Program
Spruce Creek offers the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme. It is the largest IB school in North America, and #4 in the world, based on the number of IB exams administered.
[edit] Musical Performing Arts
The Spruce Creek music and performing arts department has received numerous awards and invitations to prestigious events such as the Tournament of Roses Parade, locations such as England and China, and to sporting activities such as the Peach Bowl in Altanta, Georgia. The program includes multiple bands, orchestras, color guard, vocal and stage performance groups, accentuated by IB music classes as well as being the co-host of the yearly Lakeside Jazz Festival. Spruce Creek has an award winning chorus program. They have been involved with the Florida Vocal Association, Stetson Choral Clinic, and the EPCOT candlelight ceremony.
[edit] Botball
Spruce Creek High hosts the only competing Botball team in Volusia County, and one of the highest ranked teams in all of Central Florida. The Spruce Creek High School Botball program was started late in the 2005-2006 school year, and won several awards at the Florida Regional Tournament.

[edit] Spruce Creek Wiki
The Spruce Creek High School Wiki is a recent development that encourages the development and exchange of pertinent ideas among high school students and teachers. It is currently in its infancy, and is being maintained by programming students and their peers.
[edit] CreekConnect
CreekConnect is a web site that allows students to view grades, schedules, calendars, and announcements that are added by their teachers, who are able to manipulate student grades, as well as exchange messages with their students. It also allows parents to view their child's grades, schedule, tardies, and obligations. CreekConnect is unique in Volusia county, and is an on-going programming project for computer programming students at Spruce Creek High School.
[edit] Size and Capacity
As of 2006, the school includes 59 portable classrooms spread out across the campus, yet is not technically considered overcrowded because not every classroom is in use during every period, but it really is overcrowded.
[edit] Mu Alpha Theta
Spruce Creek is one of only two Volusia County Schools that have an active branch of the Mu Alpha Theta math honors society. Members regularly participate in the regional competitions, and on April 21-22, 2006 went to the state level competition, which had not happened in recent years. Several students received awards for ranking among the top 20 in the state in various fields.
[edit] Academic Team
Spruce Creek's Academic Team participates in the Knowledge Master Open. Some of its members recently also participated in state-level competition and the Social Studies Bowl.
