[edit] Role of Squam Lakes Association
In the second paragraph, it says "Over 6,000 acres (12 kmĀ²) in size, the lake is maintained by the Squam Lake Association." The lake isn't really maintained by the Squam Lakes Association, is it? SatyrTN 02:07, 16 June 2006 (UTC)
[edit] "Squam Lake" versus "Squam Lakes"
Since I'm living here this winter, I thought I could do a little work on this page.
I found something interesting over on the Talk:Lake Winnipesaukee page, regarding "Squam Lake" versus "Squam Lakes". My instinct is to go with "Squam Lakes" to start with. That would include things like the Squam Lakes Association and Loons, both of which are slightly more regional than specific to Big Squam.
Thoughts? SatyrTN 02:01, 17 November 2005 (UTC)
- I'd be fine with moving this article to Squam Lakes, and then having Squam Lake and Little Squam Lake redirect to that; I tend to think the two lakes are best described together.
- They are two separate lakes, wouldn't it make more sense to have Squam Lakes as a disambigous-type page to refer to both, but each lake retains their own separate articles? I would argue against merging the two, since there is no such lake as "Squam Lakes." Assawyer 02:48, 24 December 2005 (UTC)
- As for the page issue, I think Assawyer is right. The Lakes Region page would be a good over-arching page, with Squam, Little Squam, and Winnipesaukee pages as subsets. Thoughts? SatyrTN 20:25, 1 June 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Other Issues
If you have a camera and are in the mood for an outing, a photo of the Rockywold-Deephaven camps' ice-cutting operation (to fill the iceboxes summer guests use) would be a really cool Squam-Lake-in-winter image for this page... CDC (talk) 22:35, 23 December 2005 (UTC)
- Do they still do the winter ice-cutting? I was under the impression they didn't do that anymore. SatyrTN 20:25, 1 June 2006 (UTC)
