Stephen Turnbull (born 7 January 1987) is an English professional footballer who, plays as a midfielder for Hartlepool United in League One. He started his time at Hartlepool as a trainee.
Stephen is a central midfield player with a lot of potential and bags of energy. He is a highly competitive player who has a great determination to succeed. The youngster captained the Youth Team during the Dallas Cup in 2005 where they achieved third place. He is comfortable on the ball with either foot and made 22 appearances for the First Team last season. His impressive progression with the Club earned the youngster his first professional contract.
Stephen Turnbull is the twin brother of fellow Hartlepool midfielder Philip Turnbull.
He joined Bury on loan in 2006, where he was responsible for them being thrown out of this season's FA Cup(although this wasn't his fault). He was ineligible to play in their 3-1 second round replay win at Chester City on 12 December, but was picked by Bury manager Chris Casper anyway. Chester replaced Bury in the third round. Danny Wilson (footballer) called Stephen back to Hartlepool soon after this.
