Taranaki Mountain Airs
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Taranaki Mountain Airs are a basketball team that compete in the New Zealand National Basketball League.
They play their home games at TSB Stadium in New Plymouth, New Zealand. They have formerly been called the Taranaki Bears (1994-98) and Taranaki Oilers (1999). Due to a lack of financial funds they did not compete in the NZ NBL from 2000-2002 . In 2003 they were readmitted to the league and took on the nickname "Mountain Airs", after a "name the team" competition was held to determine their new name. This nickname choice was obviously in reference to Mount Taranaki, one of New Zealand's largest and well-known mountains .
Trent Adam has been named coach for the 2007 season, replacing the retired Warren Osborne.
