I find myself wondering if the Sokka is assuming too much about the "darkest day" and the effect of a solar eclipse on firebenders. While the specifcs of the planet Avatar is set in are unknown, solar eclipses don't last "all day" and the effect of an eclipse on a particular location would probably last less than an hour. At any rate, I wouldn't take it as fact that firebenders lose their power during a solar eclipse. I think the entry should reflect the speculative nature of the theory by Sokka. 68.197.4.189 05:28, 17 July 2006 (UTC)

Actually, I think the solar eclipse did in fact cause the darkest day. However, it is only one thing that happened on that day to cause it to be dark. This may be why they burned the library. In regards to the darkest day, Sokka said "Something awful happened on that day. I don't know what, but I do know why: firebenders lose their bending during a solar eclipse!" From this, it appears that it is common knowledge among the nations what happens during a solar eclipse to Firebenders (which isn't surprising; I doubt that the entire Fire Nation would be able to keep this a secret from everyone else for millenia), BUT it is only known to some in the Fire Nation what else happened during one of the solar eclipses that caused that day to be the "darkest day". In effect, we know that although a solar eclipse was necessary for the "darkest day" to occur, it in itself wasn't enough to cause whatever happened that day to Fire Nation; something else happened, in concurrence with that particular solar eclipse, that caused great destruction for the Fire Nation and made that day the "darkest day". But what it is that happened we do not know, and the article should reflect this uncertainty. Prototime 16:35, 17 July 2006 (UTC)

That's the thing. To me, Sokka saying "I know why" doesn't sound to me like "I heard before that firebenders lose their power during an eclipse" but "it makes sense to me because I know firebenders are stronger during the day and so a solar eclipse should disrupt that." This seems more like an educated guess than an established fact. 68.197.4.189 05:17, 18 July 2006 (UTC)

Well considering that fire is the opposite of water and that waterbenders lose their powers during a lunar eclipse, I'd say that that's some pretty good deductive reasoning beyond just an educated guess, and the fact that a solar eclipse happened on the same day only concludes that it is not beneficial to the Fire Nation. Agreed. Also, as mentioned he did state "I know why", which may indeed be a guess on his part(as you (68.197.4.189) said), but we can't be certain that this figurative interpretation of the statement is correct. As such, we should just stick with what was said. Prototime 19:54, 18 July 2006 (UTC)

I removed the Turbonick note, since it shouldn't be on this article alone. It's more appropriate for the main Avatar article to mention that the website shows clips of episodes. Then it would apply to all episodes (as long as the site has clips) instead of just this one, which may even be temporary. --Crisu 14:57, 26 July 2006 (UTC)

If you look carefully, you can see that the scroll Katara gives to Wan Shi Tong is the same scroll she stole from the pirates in "The Waterbending Scroll."
