The Sound and The Fury (band)
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Sound and The Fury is a hip hop group from Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada.
Members are:
- Mike aka Furious (MC/Producer)
- Martin aka NES (MC/Producer)
- Ian aka Jabba the Cutt (DJ)
The group was started in 2001 when members Mike (aka Furious) and Martin (aka NES), both studying Music at Acadia University in Wolfville, Nova Scotia, recorded a rap song together called "Ernest Goes to Compton". Both Furious and NES produce beats and MC. "Gayrap", "Post Apoc", and "Break Yo'Self" followed and these were performed at an Acadia University Battle of the Bands. After a long hiatus, Furious and NES get back together and start working on an album, releasing the independent full-length entitled "Hip Hop Scrabble" in February 2003.
The Sound and the Fury performed on the Hip Hop and Sneak Peek stages at the 2003 East Coast Music Awards, and toured Atlantic Canada with Pimp Tea, J-Bru, and Spesh K later that year.
The Sound and The Fury has been the target of other rappers because of some references to homosexuals and black people. Although the songs in question were satirical in nature, the presentation was denounced as offensive.
In January 2004, Ian (aka DJ Jabba the Cutt) is added to the line-up to do scratches on the forthcoming album "Transitions", released June 2004.
