[edit] Thanks!

Hey, thanks for your formatting of the Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops article. XD It looks GREAT. I originally wanted to use that quote thing, but I had no idea how to format it. Thanks again for fixing the references and what not as well. --Op2 06:57, 1 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] List of characters in Metal Gear Solid 3

I reverted your edit. There's no reason to remove the information. It's all available and easily confirmed by playing the game. Not only that, many people don't have the patience to sit and listen to the radio conversations mentioned in the descriptions, which makes it all the more relevant to providing a thorough character description. Gamer Junkie 03:13, 3 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Vandalism

I've just reverted your talk page - User talk:65.32.230.68 blanked it and left you a rude message. Looks like he's blocked at the moment anyway; I'm just off to leave warning on his talk page. Squeezeweasel 15:05, 3 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Content Authoritarianism

I see you've added your support. I realise that I added that section to my User Page only minutes after our discussion. I would like to say that it was not in regards to yourself. Gamer Junkie 03:03, 5 January 2007 (UTC)

It's just too bad it's not a policy in itself. Personally, I've decided that the one and only policy that truly needs to be strictly obeyed is WP:IAR. Gamer Junkie 03:29, 5 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Wikipedia Week

The best existing proposal I can, in my own limited way, think of for the previously discussed "appreciation week" can now be found at User talk:Badbilltucker/Appreciation Week#Wikipedia Week. Any comments or responses would be more than welcome. Badbilltucker 15:04, 5 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] My Request for Adminship

Thanks for contributing to my RfA! Thank you for your support in my my RfA, which passed with a tally of 117/0/1. I hope that my conduct as an admin lives up to the somewhat flattering confidence the community has shown in me; I hope my actions as a sysop show your criteria are not flawed. ;) Please don't hesitate to leave a message on my talk page should you need anything or want to discuss something with me.--Nilfanion (talk) 15:57, 9 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Yo Bread

Can you GA-review article for me? I've been working on it for months and it's time to see if it's ready. --Twlighter 03:37, 14 January 2007 (UTC)

Um, hi. Sorry to bother you, but you're the only person whom I knew to contact about the Mega Man Zero 4 article. How do I get the article to be re-reviewed for Good Article status? It's just, I added a few references to the section which prevented it from attaining GA status and was wondering whether these references were good enough to tip the balance, as it were. Thank you for all your hard work and expressing an interest in this article. Wolf ODonnell 10:27, 29 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Weapon dance

Thank you for giving some attention to the Weapon dance article I started a while back. I had almost forgotten about it. Too many irons in the fire. Greetings from Naples, Italy. Jeffmatt 07:43, 16 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Frank Hadden

Hey, I've submitted Frank Hadden as a Good Article Candidate, and was wondering if you would assess it? You seem to have some experience with rugby articles that is all. If you could have a look that would be great, but I'll understand if you are too busy. Thanks. - Shudda talk 21:53, 18 January 2007 (UTC)

The hold on the GA status: All of the questioned sentence is 100% accurate, unfortunately, in the internet age an online reference is not going to be found easily for all of that. What we do have, however, are the records of MCS itself. Would a reference noting the school magazines be sufficient? There were three per year during Franks time. If somebody wanted to verify they could call the school and ask directly. --Bob 08:20, 19 January 2007 (UTC)

Done. --Bob 21:34, 19 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Police box GA review

Thanks for checking out Police box for the GA review. I had a question about the request for citations in the lead section, which I've posted at Talk:Police box. I'm just dropping you a line here because I wasn't sure whether you had put the article on your watchlist or not. Ta! —Josiah Rowe (talkcontribs) 08:41, 23 January 2007 (UTC)

I've provided sources and relisted the article. —Josiah Rowe (talkcontribs) 09:31, 23 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Crusaders peer review

Hi, I've requested a peer review for Crusaders. Could everyone please take a look and help out? I'm trying to get the article up to Featured Article standard, and would like any feedback I can get. You can add any comments here. Thanks a lot! - Shudda talk 03:36, 26 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Reply to "Metal Gear" message

Hey, The Bread, thanks for the message on "Metal Gear" cleanup. Nice to know there's someone else out there interested in the Metal Gear series. Totalinarian 20:44, 27 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Han shot first

Thought I'd give you a heads-up in case you don't have the page on your watch list, but the Man in Black is back to his old tricks of removing the entire "References in Pop Culture" section without any discussion. I thought he had given up, as the page has seen little change in 4 months, but I guess he was just biding his time LOL RoyBatty42 19:41, 1 February 2007 (UTC)

Well, he came back this week and did his usual "no discussion" imperial change to the page. Removed all the pop culture references and even took out a "See Also" item for the related changes in "E.T." I've reverted it back, so we might be on the cusp of another edit war on the page. Care to weigh in? RoyBatty42 18:58, 16 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] MGS2 Plot

Just a wee invite to discuss the MGS2 Plot section in its Talk page- I'm the one who substantially expanded the article and I could use help in getting it up to spec. See you've tagged it, so I thought you may be able to contribute. Cheers. Hyperspacey

[edit] Big Boss and Geocities

Whatever you have against the Geocities web host, you can't simply erase every mention of it, without even checking the content of the website. It happens that the references you deleted contained an extremely precise translation of Hideo Kojima's commentaries concerning MGS3, published in various sources like deluxe edition books, etc.

Wikipedia needs sources. We can't delete anything just because we think a certain host might be "inapropriate" (and you'll have to justify this statement, because I've yet to find anything against Geocities in the rules of Wikipedia).

So if you have anything against a website on a particular host, or if you have anything against the said website (you might not agree with the webmaster), whatever you think, please justify it in the talk page of the article, before doing anything in the main article.Folken de Fanel 13:31, 5 February 2007 (UTC)

Please, I still don't see why you say that commentaries from Hideo Kojima himself, accurately translated from japanese to english, wouldn't be concidered as reliable sources.
I also can't see what this so-called "DVD" is supposed to be. Never heard about it. Be precise in your referencing, otherwize you face the risk of being reverted if you source can't be accurately identified.
As I've asked you, if you have any problem against this geocities website, please explain it precisely in the talk page. If you have nothing against the web host itself, then you have something against the website itself, or the webmaster. You have to explain it, otherwise you'll be reverted, since you're unable to justify your edits or to provide another valid source in its place.
I let you some time to write your justifications, but if you don't do it, or if I'm not convinced, the geocities reference will be reintegrated, and if you continue to try to revert it, you'll have to deal with an admin. Folken de Fanel 13:49, 6 February 2007 (UTC)
Ok since you were unable to provide a valid justification for your claims concerning the debated sources, you have been reverted.Folken de Fanel 21:38, 6 February 2007 (UTC)
OK let's clear things up:
1) You're not able to cite precisly what are your motivations in the removal of this source. You merely link the "sources" article, while you fail to state which precise element of the rule you're using to justify yourself.
I can not see into your mind, and I also can't see what would be wrong this this source, having read the source rule, and I can see nothing against "translations of a primary source", because that is what you're trying to delete.
If you are not willing to explicit your justifications and if you merely give a vague article in which the readers have to search and guess what you're meaning, I can only conclude that you have no justification whatsoever.
2) The article has some info in it, it was taken from this Geocities website. We have to cite the origin of the info given in the article, that's why it will stay.
3) The so-called "DVD" you cite doesn't exist. Until you clearly reference it (a "DVD" from "New Zealand" is NOT enough referencing, besides, there's no trace of it), it is not a valid source.
Until you have answered these 3 issues, the source will stay. Folken de Fanel 11:10, 7 February 2007 (UTC)
So, the DVD doesn't come from "New Zealand", but it is exactly the japanese DVD from which were transcribed and translated the commentaries on the geocities website. So what the point of removing the website if it is the very source of info ?
Info must be verifiable, and as the commentary DVD is in japanese only, many wikipedians won't be able to directly verify it (and I'm not even talking about the rarity and expensiveness of a japanese collector item like this).
As stated in WP:V#Sources_in_languages_other_than_English, "because this is the English Wikipedia, for the convenience of our readers, English-language sources should be used in preference to foreign-language sources, assuming equal quality, so that readers can easily verify that the source material has been used correctly".
That's merely what the geocities site is doing : providing an "English-language sources so that readers can easily verify that the source material has been used correctly". It's a direct translation of the DVD source and various documents available in the japanese collector set, so it's verifiable, it's not original research, it's not a personal essay, it's not a self-published work, and the link is not given just for the sake of advertising a fansite.
I really can't see why this source would be removed.
I'm nonetheless working on a way to solve this. To make everyone agree, I propose first to PROPERLY cite the DVD, and then mention that an english-language translation is available on the geocities site, "so that readers can easily verify that the source material has been used correctly".Folken de Fanel 21:51, 7 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Rocky and Philadelphia

Can I ask why you removed the additions to the Rocky webpage as to exactly where some of the scenes were shot? These are topics of considerable interest to people who are Rocky fans and who flock to Philadelphia year in and year out to go to the "Rocky Steps". Now, maybe they will have a little more to come to Philadelphia for and fully appreciate the movie. I cited references and planned on even adding more places up there today.GallagherBros 16:32, 10 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Rocky and Philadelphia

"User Gohiking (talk • contribs) seems to be with me on this one. The information is trivial and while interesting, is not really appropriate, how does the fact that a pet store used in the film is for sale effect the movie at all."

OK, and by that argument, how does the fact that the Art Museum steps were used in the movie, or that there have been video games made which have been influenced by the movie have any effect on the movie at all? They don't. In the case of the video game, that has NOTHING to do with the movie before or during it's production. On the other hand, the location which I have listed are IN THE MOVIE. By that token it seems that it doesn't make any sense to mention Burt Young or Talia Shire or any other character who was IN THE MOVIE as well. GallagherBros 00:01, 12 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] MG series template situation

There appears to have been no interest in the Metal Gear template for some weeks, I believe it's about time we reached some kind of concensus on this one and put it to bed. See relevant Template Talk for discussion. Admitidly, you've said you don't care either way, but hey, I could use some other interested parties who aren't Thirteen and A Man In Black. [edit] What happened to the MGS articles?

I thought AMiB was demodded? Why is he still there? And why is the Patriots aritcle gone, if I added refs to all the major statements? --Twlighter 16:25, 8 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Centralized video game navbox discussion

You previously expressed a strongly-stated opinion about a video game navbox or all video game navboxes in general, or perhaps I clicked on your talk page by mistake. Whichever it is, you are invited to offer your opinion at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Video games#Navboxes III: Son of Navboxes. - A Man In Bl♟ck (conspire | past ops) 07:30, 9 March 2007 (UTC)

My input isn't needed, i'm happy with the standard you devised in general. I just want to keep the majority happy, and so that's the reason for my wanting MGS4 in the navbox
