Could somebody who speaks russian please find the website for the Moscow Velodrome? I'm hoping a site exists, since it's a large well funded world class facility that was originally built for the Olympic games. Similarly I'd like to add other links to velodromes outside english-speaking countries. It's easy to find the AU, CA, UK, US velodromes' websites. --TheWalrus
What is the exact name for this sport? "Track cycling"? If so, I think this should be moved to track cycling. By the way, this looks like a great article. It never ceases to amaze me how anonymous people come in and quietly add fantastic articles... --Larry Sanger
I wrote this article - it's not my particular wish to be anonymous, but for some reason Mozilla and the wikipedia preferences don't get on very well (any suggestions?). As to your question, that's what it's usually called in Australia. I'm not sure about the rest of the English-speaking world, but in the absence of any knowledge to the contrary I'll shift the article to your suggested home.Robert Merkel
- Clearly I've missed the change here, but I'll second the fact that the sport is referred to as "track cycling," even here in the US coolhappysteve
Indeed, the shift has taken place, including this discussion :) Robert Merkel
I came across this page while adding a note about a velodrome to an article on Herne Hill in south London. Shouldn't velodrome have an article of its own, rather than simply be redirected to this page? A list of velodromes might then also be useful.Paul W
- I agree that it would be nice for velodromes to have an in-depth article of their own, but at this point into the venture of writing about this topic, we're working on support a solid page about track cycling, let alone solely about velodromes. It's something we should explore, though, no? coolhappysteve
Comment on "frames": is it true that sprinters' frames are are designed for light weight? I was under the impression they were designed for strength and rigidity, often at the expense of weight. adamrice 21:55, 25 Aug 2004 (UTC)
[edit] Links to Velodromes
I have just noticed that the Velodrome page has a much more complete list of velodromes than this article. Would it be best if we removed the list from this page and directed readers to the velodrome page instead? Road Wizard 06:21, 2 May 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Omnium
Should we include the omnium and even create an article on the event seeing as it will be reintroduced to international competition? Cyclingnews has an interesting article on the event. --El Loto 14:30, 24 November 2006 (UTC)
