Travel plan
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
A travel plan (sometimes referred to as a green travel plan) is a package of measures designed to influence the travel behavior of individuals, companies, schools or other organisations. The UK's Department for Transport has defined travel plans as a package of measures produced by employers to encourage staff to use alternatives to single-occupancy car-use.
Travel plans are becoming increasingly common in the UK. The general aim is to reduce the negative effects of traffic upon business, individuals, communities or the environment.
A real-estate developer in the UK will often be required to provide a travel plan as part of a Section 106 agreement under the Town and Country Planning Act 1990. Proposals generally include mechanisms to reduce the need to use a car and to promote and provide for sustainable transport through marketing initiatives, contributions to public transport and walking and cycling infrastructure.
