Is the tagline grammatically correct? Should it not be "there were" instead of "there was"? --mrp 30/4/06

I don't think so. The phrase "Tristan and Isolde" doesn't mean, "the two people called Tristan and Isolde". It means, "the story whose title is Tristan and Isolde". Since there is only one story, the subject of the verb is a singular noun and so the verb conjugates in the singular.

By the same token, the phrase Joe's windows is open can be grammatically correct if there is a man called Joe who has a shop that sells windows (called Joe's windows) and if that shop is currently open. --Oscar Bravo 06:54, 15 May 2006 (UTC)
