Tweeter Center at the Waterfront
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Tweeter Center at the Waterfront is an outdoor amphitheater / indoor theater complex located in Camden, New Jersey, on the Delaware River waterfront, across from Philadelphia.
Opened in June 1995 as the Blockbuster Sony Music Entertainment Centre (or E-Centre), and later renamed the Tweeter Center in 2001, the Tweeter Center of the Philadelphia and South Jersey Region represents a revolution in amphitheater technology. The first-of-its-kind year-round facility serves as a 25,000 capacity outdoor amphitheater during the summer months which features a huge lawn with giant video screens, state-of-the-art computerized sound enhancement, and spectacular views of the Philadelphia skyline and the Ben Franklin Bridge to the West and North. In the fall and winter, the Tweeter Center converts to a fully enclosed, climate controlled, flexible capacity theatre for 1,600-7,000 guests offering a variety of concerts, Broadway theatrical productions and family entertainment.
Some of the recent events (and some to come) at the Tweeter Center include: Farm Aid 2006, Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers, The Killers, The Allman Brothers Band, Fall Out Boy, Pearl Jam, Nine Inch Nails, Bruce Springsteen, Def Leppard, Journey, Jimmy Buffett, Gwen Stefani, Crosby Stills Nash & Young, Roger Waters, Phil Lesh & Friends, The Fray and many, many MORE!
The Tweeter Center sits adjacent to the New Jersey State Aquarium on 14 acres along the Delaware River and is convenient to mass transportation. Parking is in well-lit fenced and gated parking lots adjacent to the facility.
The Tweeter Center is named for Tweeter, a specialty audio/video retailer with 200 stores nationwide.
