The Type 50 submachine gun was one of the first domestically designed Chinese submachine guns, modeled on the Soviet PPSh-41. Standard ammunition for Type 50 SMG is 7.62mm type 64 cartridge, which is based on 7.62x25mm Type 51 (same as Soviet 7.62x25mm TT).
The Type 50 submachine gun is a simple blowback weapon that fires from open bolt. Curved box magazine holds 30 rounds of ammunition. Sights are of traditional, open type.
