[edit] The name
The municipality (originally the parish) is named after the farm Ulvik (Norse Ulfvík), since the first church was built there. The first element is ulfr m 'wolf', the last element is vík f 'inlet'.
[edit] Coat-of-arms
The coat-of-arms is from modern times (1986). It shows a figure similar to the selburose (see also the coat-of-arms of Selbu) - and this one is used in the bunad of Ulvik.
