OrphanBot is turning into a vandle. This is a United States Navy photo. It have been clearly labled several times, but OrphanBot countinues to ignor it. --71Demon 19:16, 11 January 2007 (UTC)
- 71Demon, in order for Wikipedia to use this picture, you have to say where you got it, in addition to why it's free. TomTheHand 22:40, 11 January 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Would somebody please fix VandalBot, better know as OrphanBot
The source of the picture is THE UNITED STATES NAVY that is part of the UNITED STATES GOVERNMENT making the photo public doman!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! --71Demon 22:46, 11 January 2007 (UTC)
- Yes! You're right! And that's not why the image is being tagged! Now where did you get the photo? TomTheHand 22:52, 11 January 2007 (UTC)

- Dear Vandal, there is this thing called the United States Navy. The take photos of their ships, and provide those to the public for use. I have gotten them at the National Archives in Washington, DC. The Mariners Museum out side Norfolk. I have gotten the from different Museums around the US, such as the one in Mobile, Alabama. All taken by the United States Navy, all of which are public domain. They are duely marked with the proper information indicating their source is the United States Navy.

- I do understand you do not agree with me on the proper naming of ship articles. This is an open discussion on another section, and you should not be taking out by stalking my editing. This is nothing more than vandalism on your part, because you do not agree with my opinion. --71Demon 23:07, 11 January 2007 (UTC)

- First, please refrain from personal attacks, such as calling me vandal; they are against Wikipedia policy.
- Second, the information you've just given is exactly what needs to be placed on the image page. "From the Navy" is not enough information; you need to write "This was put onto disk for me by the Mariner's Museum outside Norfolk" or whatever is the case for this specific image. Do you remember where you got this image? If so, include a note about it on the image page and remove the "no source" notice. If you just have a whole collection of images, and you've forgotten which ones are from where, I'm not sure what to tell you; I don't think you can have your image on Wikipedia if you can't provide information about where you got it. - Vandalism is when you keep refering a proper edit. I have reported you to an admin. It is properly marked that it came from the United States Navy. Any work of the United States Navy is Public Domain as all works of the US Government are. That is why I properly marked it with;

This tag is used to explain that the photo came from the United State Navy. I spell out, I got it from the United State Navy through the Naval Historical Center, then I would need to put the tag on. The tag is a way to make it quicker. --71Demon 23:46, 11 January 2007 (UTC)
- If you do not wish to provide a source, I'll be quite happy to delete the image now, rather than on the 14th. --Carnildo 00:31, 12 January 2007 (UTC)

- Please feel free to vandalise all teh photos on Wiki if you want. --71Demon 00:53, 12 January 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Can we not escalate this
I just got here from posting a similar answer to 71Demon. Pax Demon! Snarling at the cop enforcing the speeding laws will only P.O. the cop and possibly get another ticket. Kicking and screaming a resisting arrest charge added to THAT..., or seat belt ticket, inspection ticket, etcetera... in short, they're just doing their job, and you need to just calm down and ask questions until you understand their needs. I'm sure they aren't making them up, and making a fuss over it just alienates them instead of putting them on your side.
Just browse back to the site. Find the image, and get the url. Taking responsibility for your edits is part of the job. So is clearing up rules and studying to understand such. This particular matter is now POLICY as I understand it, set by Jimbo and the Wikipedia Foundation board of directors. Please let me know if I'm wrong on that guys on my talk. I suck at my watchlist. // FrankB 04:14, 12 January 2007 (UTC)
