Vancouver City Centre Station
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Vancouver City Centre Station, formerly called Robson Station, is a subway station currently under construction on the rapid transit Canada Line in Vancouver, Canada. The station is due to open when the Canada Line opens, in 2009.
[edit] Location
Vancouver City Centre Station will be located on Granville Street, between the intersections with West Georgia and Robson Streets. The station will serve the shopping and entertainment districts along Granville and Robson Streets, and Pacific Centre and Vancouver Centre (both office and shopping complexes). The station will also be within walking distance of such amenities as Robson Square (home of Vancouver Art Gallery, the provincial courthouse, and a satellite campus of the University of British Columbia), Orpheum Theatre and Vancouver Library Square.
[edit] Services
The station will be located within short walking distance of bus stops for bus services throughout Vancouver (especially the trolleybus services on Granville Mall) and to the North Shore. It is proposed that underground connections be built between Vancouver City Centre Station and both Pacific Centre and Vancouver Centre. Were that to happen, passengers would be able to transfer between the Canada Line and the Expo and Millennium Lines (the latter two serving Granville Station) by walking through Pacific Centre or Vancouver Centre and the Hudson's Bay Company department store.
