Victor Núñez (born April 15, 1980) is a professional Costa Rican football (soccer) player after receiving his passport in early 2006. He is originally from the Dominican Republic. Nuñez is another player to come out of the great minor league system of Deportivo Saprissa, where he played his first 4 seasons. He plays club football for C.S. Cartaginés and has been selected in the squad for Costa Rica in the 2006 FIFA World Cup. This makes him the first Dominican born athlete to compete in the FIFA World Cup. He has 2 caps and memorably won the penalty that brought about the winning goal on his debut against South Korea.
He led the domestic goal scoring charts in 2000/01 and his nickname is El Mambo.
