Vito Arcilesi

Vito Arcilesi (1894-1979) came from Alcamo, on the island of Sicily to the United States by way of Ellis Island in 1910. Vito married Francesca Amato and they settled in Detroit, Michigan with their four children Guiseppe, Vincenzo, Gaspare and Stefano, where they lived together until her death following the birth of their fifth son; Vito's last son was eventually adopted by Vito's brother. Vito worked in Briggs, an automobile-body company associated with Plymouth (automobile), and, upon retirement purchased the pool hall which he would run until his retirement. He later remarried to Mamie Candella, who brought three children into the marriage, Polly, Norman, and Nicholas. He died at his home in Roseville, Michigan in 1979 at the age of 85.
