W. E. B. Du Bois Institute

The W. E. B. Du Bois Institute for African and African-American Research [[1]] is located at Harvard University. It is named for the first African American to receive a Ph.D. from Harvard University (1895). And it was established in 1969. Henry Louis Gates, Jr. is the director of the institute.
