Wachovia Championship is a PGA Tour golf tournament. The event is held at the Quail Hollow Club in Charlotte, North Carolina in early May. It was first played in 2003 and has attracted some of the top players on the tour.
Over the past three years, the tournament has ended in a playoff. Additionally, the event is known to have one of the tougher finishes on tour with 16, 17 and 18 often ranked among the PGA Tour's toughest holes.
In 2007, the tournament is scheduled to have a $6,400,000 purse with the champion to earn $1,152,000. The event is sponsored by the Wachovia Corporation. The majority of the proceeds from the tournament benefit Teach for America.
