The County of Warwickshire has the finest example of War Memorial research currently available in written form in the United Kingdom.
The County of Warwickshire Roll of Honour, Volume I, (South Warwickshire) by acknowledged expert Kenneth Fowler is the first book of it's kind in the United Kingdom that alphabetically lists every village and town in South Warwickshire with a War Memorial, Roll of Honour and military burial and then individually identifies and records each man and woman's name that adorn them. In total almost nine thousand three hundred fallen are listed with full name, service number, rank, ship/battalion & regiment/squadron, Brigade, Division, age, parents, spouse, place of birth, home address, place of enlistment, place of death, cause of death, place of burial/commemoration, medal entitlement for all Great War casualties. Further information taken from the 1901 census, Parish records, Warwickshire burial register, local period newspapers, service records, war diaries, London Gazette, County Records Office, Public Records Office (now National Archives) and relatives is also included with each entry.
