Will I?

"Will I?" is a song in the musical Rent (and movie of the same name). It is present in several scenes throughout the musical, but is introduced when the character Roger leaves his loft to join in singing with the people infected with AIDS. In the sequence of the musical, it comes after "Another Day" and is followed by "Santa Fe." It is the second of a total of three songs sung with the Life Support group; the first one being "Life Support," and the last being "Without You."
This song was inspired by a real event in the life of the composer/lyricist, Jonathan Larson. A childhood friend of Larson, Matthew O'Grady, had been diagnosed HIV positive, and Jonathan attended several meetings of the New York based AIDS support group "Friends In Deed" with him. According to O'Grady, at one of the meetings, a young man who was HIV positive asked "Will I Lose my Dignity?".
