William Colbeck

William P. "Dinty" Colbeck (1891-February 17, 1943) was a St. Louis politician and organized crime figure involved in bootlegging and illegal gambling. A former veteran of WWI, he succeeded founder William "Jellyroll" Egan as head of Egan's Rats in the early 1920s. However, after participating in two successful robberies in 1923, he was arrested and convicted of armed robbery. After serving 16 years in prison, he attempted to resume his criminal activities however he was gunned down by an unidentifed gunman during a drive by shooting on February 17, 1943 [1].
