WJHD
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
WJHD is the radio station of the Portsmouth Abbey School in Portsmouth, RI. Broadcasting from a studio located in the school's science building, WJHD provides Aquidneck Island with 24 hour, commercial-free radio. It has been in service since the 1960's, and until recently, was under the helm of a Father Edmund. During many of those years, the station was only operational on nights and weekends, during live shows. However, when a religious broadcaster expressed interest in the station, the faculty of the school allowed the station funds to become fully operational, with a 24-hour broadcast interspersed with live shows. In 2005, a new teacher was given the reins of the station, Mrs. Tara O'Brien, who instituted four students as senior and junior managers, Zack McCune and Rebecca Findlay, and Jay Popham and Maximilian Klietmann, respectively.
