Zigzagoon (ジグザグマ Jiguzaguma?, Ziguzaguma in original Japanese language versions) is one of the 493 fictional species of Pokémon creatures from the Pokémon media franchise. Like real raccoons, its curiosity makes it have a tendency to pick up items.
The name Zigzagoon originates from the words zigzag and raccoon, which makes a double-layered sense because, in addition to its behavioral habit of running in a zigzag motion, its fur is jagged to depict a zigzag pattern. Its Japanese name Ziguzaguma is likely a portmanteau of the Japanese transliteration of the English word zigzag (ジグザグ jiguzagu?) and the Japanese name for the Eurasian badger (洗い熊 araiguma?).

[edit] Biological characteristics
Zigzagoon restlessly wanders everywhere at all times. This Pokémon does so because it is very curious, it also becomes very interested in anything that it happens to see (hence its Pickup ability). The hair on its back is bristly, it rubs the hard back hair against trees to leave its territorial markings. This Pokémon may play dead to fool foes in battle. Rubbing its nose against the ground, it always wanders about back and forth in search of something. It is distinguished by the zigzag footprints it leaves.

Zigzagoon made its first appearance in Pokémon Ruby and Sapphire in the Hoenn region, and is a very common Pokémon in the start of the video games. However, it isn't nearly as common in Emerald, but it does play a role in it: A Zigzagoon chases Professor Birch near the beginning of the game, and the player has to pick Treecko, Torchic, or Mudkip to defeat it. Thus, Zigzagoon is the first battle in Emerald. Players can still find Zigzagoon in the early routes in Emerald, though. It is necessary to trade from any of the three previously said games in order to get Zigzagoon in Fire Red, Leaf Green, Colosseum, or XD. Also, in Colosseum, the first fight is against Rider Willie, a trainer with two Zigzagoon.
Zigzagoon, along with its evolution, Linoone, is more so used for its Pickup ability than battling, because the Pickup ability has a chance of picking up an item after a battle.
Zigzagoon evolves at level 20. Also, a version of Zigzagoon that knows Extremespeed can be obtained via Pokémon Box.
In Pokemon Mystery Dungeon , Zigzagoon levels up faster than the other Pokémon.

Zigzagoon, being as common in Hoenn as it is, has made several appearances in the Pokémon Anime. It first appeared in Pokémon Advance in the episode "In the Knicker of Time!" where a boy dresses up in a Zigzagoon costume to capture one. It then appeared in "You Said a Mouthful" belonging to a trainer that had a Pelipper who could perform moves such as Flamethrower and Thunderbolt because it concealed a Magby and a Magnemite in its mouth. Its third prominent appearance occurs in the episode "Candid Camerupt" featuring the Winstrate family, where Victor uses one to battle Brock.
In one episode (Showdown at Linoone), a Linoone named Token with a problem with picking up round objects (due to its owner constantly playing ball with it before it evolved) was shown in a flash back as its pre-evolved form, Zigzagoon.
Zigzagoon also appears as a Pokédoll alongside an Azurill doll in the Japanese version of the Hoenn episode "A Three Team Scheme!". This was edited out for the American version, ruining the marketing effect of Team Rocket showing them (on a table) off to Giovanni.
[edit] In the Pokémon Trading Card Game
The Pokémon Trading Card Game is a collectible card game similar in goal to a Pokémon battle in the video game series; players must use cards (with individual strengths and weaknesses) in an attempt to defeat their opponent by "knocking out" all of his cards. The game was first published in North America by Wizards of the Coast in 1999.
Zigzagoon has appeared in the Pokémon Trading Card Game several times, each as Basic Normal-type Pokémon. It first appeared in the "EX Ruby and Sapphire" set, then in the "EX Sandstorm", and finally in the "EX Emerald", each time as a Common rarity Pokémon, meaning it can easily found in packs.[1]
