Philip Syng Physick

Philip Syng Physick (July 7, 1768 - December 15, 1837) was an American physician born in Philadelphia.
He obtained his degree in medicine from the University of Edinburgh in 1792 and returned to his city of birth to practice, taking a position at Pennsylvania Hospital.
He has been called the "Father of American Surgery"[citation needed].
