Philippe Dreyfus

Philippe Dreyfus is an informatics pioneer in France.

After his Bachelor Degree in 1950 in physics achieved in the Physics and Chemistry faculty in Paris, he has been professor at the Informatics faculty at Harvard University using Mark I, the first automated computer ever built.

In 1958 he has been nominated director of the Bull Calculus Centre.

In 1962 he creates the new term Informatique .

In 1965 he becomes director of the CAP Europe, a Anglo-french company as well director of CAP France and CAP UK.

In 1975 after the CAP France and CAP Europe fusion with Sogeti and the consequent acquisition of Gemini Inc. (USA), he becomes Vice-Presidente of Sogeti, position that he actually helds. Philippe Dreyfus is a member of the ECSA Council (European Computing Services Association) and he has been the founder of Syntec Informatique.

In 1962 he has invented and definied the concept of programming language and in 1990 he has introduced the concept of informativity ( Informativité ).
