Phil-hong, (known humanly as Phil), is an enthusiast and occasional editor to Wikipedia.
I am a proud Canadian, born with a Chinese background (specifically with links to Chaozhou and Hainan). I had to learn English as a Second Language because the first language I had spoken was Cantonese. Oh well.
My linguistics within Chinese are quite weak, actually. In true filial fashion, I get steamed for pronouncing some words wrong, and I have little knowledge of the "other" main dialect of China, Mandarin. But I'm trying to learn my zhuyin this minute.
[edit] Biography
I was born in York, Ontario (now a part of the City of Toronto) during the wee hours of a November Saturday, but I consider myself a Brampton baby. The U-HAUL was ready and the house was bought on the day I was born, which means that Brampton is my hometown. Eventually, I moved to York Region, where I currently live.
I literally attended Parkway Public School, from Junior Kindergarten all the way to Grade 5 and almost graduated from there but had to move in the end of grade 5. Growing up a book nut, I tempted my investigative aspects of my personality by delving into books there.
I am an avid fan of Adult Contemporary music, and am inspired by singer-songwriters such as Delta Goodrem and Michelle Branch. I take an interest in some Asian cultures (to be specific, Chinese and Japanese), and consider a long trip to Australia part of my to-do list for the near future.
I update/remove dead links, and have to edit some Wikipedia pages due to that fact. It's annoying, but someone's got to do it.
I was, at one time, an editor for a category in the Open Directory Project.
An interesting fact: I like debit cards. You may now call me a freak.
Interestingly enough, I share a birthday with Dr. Sun Yat-sen. And I was born in a year ending in 8. Which lead my family to think I am a lucky child. Which is ludicris. Wouldn't it be kind of contradictory, seeing that I was born on a Saturday? I just hope I resist the keg breaking once in college, striving to be a journalist.
