[edit] History

Bodo Wenzel released PalmBoy version 1.0 in the summer of 2000. Since it only rendered the background of the game, most games could not be played. 1 year later, PalmBoy could play most games. Palm OS inc. did not like the use of their trademark "Palm" without permission, and PalmGear, where Phoinix was hosted, refused to host software that illegally used the Palm trademark. So, at the end of 2001, Bodo Wenzel redesigned PalmBoy's user interface and released it under the name Phoinix.[4]

[edit] Version 1.3 (June 26, 2005)

On June 26, 2005,[2] Bodo Wenzel released Phoinix version 1.3. It contained numerous improvements, including:[4]

  • A frameskip algorithm to speed up games running too slow (while losing some quality) and a slowdown algorithm to slow down games running too fast.
  • The user interface changed to be more like PalmBoy's listbox interface, instead of a drop-down list of games.
  • A more flexible method to map Palm keys and screen buttons to emulated Game Boy buttons.
