Khed is a town in the Konkan region of Maharashtra, India Ratnagiri District. It is an industrial town just north of Chiplun. It is a taluka place that connects Ratnagiri district to the Raigad district. Khed has mainly factories relating to chemicals and pharmaceuticals with major companies having an industrial outlet here.

Pollution is a problem, and the acidic vapours often cause fog in this area.

Khed lies on the main Mumbai-Goa National Highway NH-17 and also on the Konkan Railway line.

Although all political parties like Congress, Bharatiya Janata Party, Nationalist Congress Party etc have presence in Khed, Shiv Sena has a stronghold in Khed.

Khed is also famous for alphonso mangoes. The places worth visiting near Khed are Parashuram temple, Panhale Kaji caves, Unhavare (famous for Geothermal springs) and Dapoli, Guhagar which have nice beaches. Khed has natural and beautiful landscapes. The Chakdev mountain is famous for mountaineering and trekking. Khed has ancient Buddhist caves.

River Jagbudi passes through Khed and is really a nice place to spend time in company of nature, another River Narangi also adds to the natural beauty of this small town. The Natunagar Dam is a nice place to spend one's weekend.

Khed is one of the few places in Konkan which offers you a chance to spend time in the lap of nature without being far away from civilisation. Best time to visit is November to January.

Khed, also have good educational institutions like LTTEMS(Lions Tiny Taught English Medium School) which is the firdt English Medium School. LTTE has recently introduced Junior College of Commerce. Other institutions are Sahjeevan High School, Al-Madina High School, etc.

The famous Chemical factory belt of Lote-Parshram comes in Khed taluka.

The people in Khed are very friendly. There are good hotels around the city, specially a hotel on mountain called Century is famous for its Pahadi Kabab, also there is a famous restaurant Called Kalkai Krupa which is Famous for Wade-Mutton Dish. Poonam Super is also popular amongst Mumbai-Goa tourists. Khed is famous for its festivals such as URS of Jalal Shah Baba and Dahi-Handi & Shimaga Festival.

People of Khed are very proud of the Hindu-Muslim unity. We love each other and stay as a family and enjoy all the festivals together.
