Phantom Ganon (Legend of Zelda)

Phantom Ganon is a recurring boss in the Legend of Zelda series. It usually only appears in games where Ganon or Ganondorf is the main antagonist.

[edit] Ocarina of Time
Phantom Ganon appears as the boss of the Forest Temple, described as "Evil Spirit from beyond". The battle arena is like an art room with many identical pictures. The boss attacks from the pictures and must be shot to damage. Keep in mind though that he fakes like he is coming out of one picture and comes out of another. After multiple hits the ghost floats around shooting energy blasts which must be reflected back by hitting with a sword (similar to the battle with Agahnim in A Link to the Past ) or, as a running gag, with an empty bottle. His other attack is where he spins around and divebombs Link, doing massive damage. Afte he is defeated Ganondorf punishes him by banishing the spirit to the gap between dimensions.
[edit] Wind Waker
Phantom Ganon makes two appearances in the Wind Waker. The first is as a miniboss at the beginning of Forsaken Fortress for the second time, where the real boss is the Helmaroc King. Phantom Ganon is a unique miniboss, as he has his own unique music. The battle is exactly like the second part of the battle in Ocarina of Time.
In the last dungeon, Phantom Ganon appears in rooms where he takes one hit to disappear, but his sword hilt points to the door that the next room is in. After obtainign the light arrows he is destroyed by a single shot.

Phantom Ganon makes two appearances as the first and fourth bosses. In the second appearance he has multiple clones whose energy balls are destroyed when hit.
[edit] Battle Similarities
Many bosses throughout the series are related to the battle against Phantom Ganon. Agahnim from A Link to the Past is the original battle which Phantom Ganon's fights are mostly based off of. Ganondorf in Ocarina of Time has an identical battle except for the fact that his attacks do three times as much damage. Ganondorf also has an attack where he pounds the ground to replace Phantom Ganon's second attack. In Twilight Princess, Ganondorf possesses Zelda and fights in a style nearly the exact same to the Phantom Ganon from Ocarina of Time, even using his divebomb attack.
