Phillip Magee (born April 22, 1984 in Larne, County Antrim, Northern Ireland) was the 10th place finisher of The X Factor (TV series) 2005. He was the eldest son of James and Ann and has two younger brothers Paul (19) and David (17). Phillip has been singing for as long as he can remember. When he was 4 he used to get up early in the morning, put on a CD and sing along to it, waking the whole house in the process! He is a former pupil of Larne Grammar School and played as Pharoah in the school production of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat and nearly brought the roof down. Phillip was an Irish dancer for 10 years and won many championships where he travelled as far as Spain and Germany to compete. He likes to play pool and snooker and going to the pub. He also plays the guitar and loves all types of music, for example Elvis Presley, country music, 50's, 60's Bon Jovi, U2. Earlier in 2005, Phillip was told that he was the Best Elvis Impersonator in Ireland on The Kelly Show. He studied geography and biology for two years at Queen's University Belfast, but dropped out when he started The X Factor.

[edit] The X Factor
Phillip auditioned in Belfast where he performed the old country classic "Your Cheatin' Heart" Phillip goes through to bootcamp. On the second day of bootcamp he sang the Elvis Presley classic "Always on My Mind". Phillip visited his mentor Louis Walsh in Dublin, Ireland and was through to the live shows. His friend Shayne Ward is also through and was also in the 16-24s category. In the first live show, Phillip performed Amazed by Lonestar and got praise from Sharon Osbourne and Louis Walsh. Simon Cowell thought he's just distinctly unexcited himself. Phillip became the first finalist to come back next week. In the second live show, in the audience were Phillip's parents and his younger brother, David. They were accompanied by Susan and Linda McIlwee, two of Phillip's Irish dancing teachers. On the stage he performed Wind Beneath My Wings by Bette Midler and was slated by two of the three judges. Cowell claimed he sung out of tune and was "flat as a pancake." Phillip intends to take charge and sing a rock-and roll number rather than depend on Louis to pick the song. Phillip then became the ninth and final act coming back to next week's show and has escaped the bottom 2. In the third live show, Phillip promised his fans a rock 'n' roll song. He went first singing Chuck Berry's Johnny B. Goode. Simon admired him "for taking a risk but that was the good news, it was a bit like watching Shakin' Stevens perform at some hideous wedding".
[edit] The Reality
On 29th October it's the tough competition from the high quality field pushed Phillip into the dreaded bottom 2 spot along with Chico Slimani.
The Conway Sisters were the last act to be declared safe and Simon Cowell must be relieved that both of his remaining groups survived the public vote. With the other 2 mentors sticking with their acts, this meant that he had the casting vote tonight and he seemed to find the job of deciding which act should go home a lot easier than Sharon did last week!
Simon labelled Phillip and Chico's efforts as "two of the most bizarre performances I have ever seen in my life" and then made his decision "based on who I think the public would want to see back". Amid deafening studio noise he names Phillip as the act to go home. Naturally Phillip looked disappointed, but he still thanked Louis for giving him his chance to perform in the finals and shook his mentor's hand.
[edit] The X Factor Tour
Phillip made his special guest appearances on The X Factor Live Nationwide Tour in Metro Radio Arena Newcastle and SECC.
[edit] Ni Gaeilgeoir Me
Phillip came back to reality TV and appeared on TG4's Ni Gaeilgeoir Me. Unfortunately, he and Marisa Mackle became the first two to be evicted from the NGM house. It was the long long slán as an almost tearful Phillip stayed on in the bar after the eviction notice entertaining his new friends, exchanging telephone numbers and sharing his new found fluency in the Irish language.
And showing a previously hidden talent for Irish dancing. Unknown to us all Phillip is quiet an accomplished Irish dancer and could give a bit of competition to his teacher Breandan de Gallaí on the dance floor if not in the classroom.
[edit] Close to record deal
Phillip is already working on the single that he wants to release and it seems that Devon based Star promotions have faith in Phillip’s future.
