From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

I'm a 24 year old philosophy postgraduate at the University of Leeds, married and needing a holiday.

I enjoy copy editing / cleaning up any articles that need it, mainly cause you learn a lot of totally useless information which is kinda fun. Of course being Wikipedia it could all be totally wrong information but I'm not completely sure that means it has any less value (as I get older I get less sure!).

Feel free to talk to me / leave me a message if you're bored.

[edit] Articles I have *some* connection to

  • Orbit - Did fairly major revision of this one, adding discography, member list and bio.
  • Jaya Suprana - cleanup - this guy turned out to be pretty interesting, but damned hard to get hold of info about him in English. It's all sycophantic invitations to recitals and things, nothing objective.
  • Robin LePoidevin - First article I created, he's my personal tutor and a fairly important philosopher of time so I thought he deserved a mention. Will expand it once I get through my exams.
  • Peter Simons - Another Leeds philosopher, added some info on his membership of the British Academy.
  • XLR8R - Created this one, was a fun learning experience - pity there is not much information on the album out there. Though I guess there is at least one more source of it now...
  • Libido Speedway - Created this one.
  • Fred Cogswell - Heavily edited and added news of his death - really fantastic poet who I had never heard of, ended up buying a book by him. I'll be buying some more when I can.
  • Blind Willow, Sleeping Woman - Created this one, about the short story collection by Haruki Murakami. Put a fair bit of work in so tell me what you think!
  • Underground - Extensive rewrite and referencing, again any comments appreciated. This is the first article which I have extensively edited to receive GA status!

WikiProject Philosophy task list
  • Charles Peirce: This article needs a lot of help. The POV is way too idiosyncratic and the style is offputting for a general audience, to say the least. You will have to be willing to go to the mat, however, with the primary author, who has been banned but has reappeared under different names.
  • Desert: At least narrow it down to being in philosophy, ethics, or morality. An actual article at any of these three would be nice, too.
  • Cesare Cremonini: created "start-level", would need new eyes and hands.
  • Fatalism: Stub-like. Needs to be cleaned up and expanded
  • Aristotelianism: Needs to be expanded
  • Logical argument: Needs work to be of use
  • Sign / Symbol: Introductions contain too much technical jargon
  • Catholic Probabilism: Pretty nearly straight from the old Catholic Encyclopedia
  • Counterfactuals: Needs fuller and more accurate summary of main theories, as well as indication of philosophical importance in other topics, notably causation and inference.
  • Human agency: Expand, correct, and reference. Any support for altering the name?
  • Being and Nothingness: An Essay on Phenomenological Ontology Sartre's magnum opus, barely more than a stub
  • Übermensch: desperately needs knowledgable attention
  • Kant's Groundwork: re-write, expand
  • Existentialism: in dire need of a cleanup and reworking of information
  • African philosophy: needs a lot of work!
