Phofo (a.k.a. Adam Weitz) is a music producer, from New York (now living in Los Angeles), credited with originating a style of music known as "Lap Pop". His music has also been classified into the following genres: Shibuya-kei, Big Beat, Lounge music, and Alternative Hip Hop. Alongside the legendary Prince Paul (De La Soul, Gravediggaz), Phofo was responsible for producing MC Paul Barman's critically acclaimed "Paullelujah" LP (Coup d'Etat). Phofo has produced, collaborated with, and remixed ubiquitous indie pop and underground hip-hop artists like MF Doom (Gorillaz, Madvillain), Mr. Dead (Handsome Boy Modeling School), I Am the World Trade Center, Mr. Len (Company Flow), Starchild Excalibur (Handsome Boy Modeling School), My Favorite, Mr. Dead, The Brittle Stars and many others. In addition to music production, Phofo is a practicing trial lawyer and copyright scholar specializing in derivative use issues like sampling. He was a contributing writer to McSweeney's "Created in Darkness by Troubled Americans" (Knopf/Random House), a music consultant to PRI's This American Life, and is the editor of http://samplinglaw.com. He is currently composing the musical score to the animated feature film, Los Campeones de La Lucha Libre for Fwak! Animation.[1]
