Phil Manzanera
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Phil Manzanera (born Philip Targett-Adams, 31 January 1951, in London, England), played guitar with Quiet Sun, then Roxy Music.
He was educated at Dulwich College. Known for a groundbreaking punk-like guitar tone early in his career, he later incorporated his Latin roots into his guitar phrasing. He went on to form the band 801, which included in its repertoire a number of Roxy Music and Eno classics.
The track "Wish You Well" on Manzanera's recent album 6PM consists of a tribute to Ian MacDonald.
Phil Manzanera co-produced David Gilmour's album On An Island.
Manzanera appears briefly playing a guitar solo in Red Dwarf series 6 episode "Psirens". Only his hands appeared playing the guitar, and his credit on the Internet Movie Database lists his role as "Hands of Psiren Lister". [1] On screen he is credited as "the hands of Phil Manzanera".
