- Descripció: (anglès) The signature of Edward VIII of the United Kingdom on the declaration of abdication. It was customary that the Kings and Queens of the United Kingdom sign with their first name and the initials "RI" (R for rex/regina meaning "king/queen"; I for imperator/imperatrix meaning "emperor/empress") until they lost their status as Emperor of India, when the "I" was dropped. Edward VIII's signature became simply "Edward" after he abdicated. The crop of the signature shows that.
