The SOHO/LASCO data used here are produced by a consortium of the Naval Research Laboratory (USA), Max-Planck-Institut fuer Aeronomie (Germany), Laboratoire d'Astronomie (France), and the University of Birmingham (UK). SOHO is a project of international cooperation between ESA and NASA.

As images from the SOHO web page are generally not PD (see [2]), I asked for conformation that PD applies to images from this source, and received this answer: Yes, our data policy is a little confusing and unclear. I get many questions regarding it. Basically, you a free to take and use our images for websites, publications and such, but we do ask for some kind of an acknowlegement.
