Kurzzeichen für Kunststoffe beschreiben das hauptsächlich in ihnen enthaltene Basis-Polymer. Die dafür verwendeten Großbuchstabenfolgen sind in DIN EN ISO 1043-1 und DIN ISO 1629 (Kautschuke) genormt. Sie dienen einer bequemen Schreibweise für die chemischen Bezeichnungen der Kunststoffe nach den IUPAC-Regeln. Zur Kennzeichnung besonderer Eigenschaften innerhalb einer Kunststoffklasse können nach einem Bindestrich weitere Buchstaben folgen.
