Paul Benacerraf

Paul Benacerraf ist ein amerikanischer Professor der Philosophie an der Princeton University. Sein Wirkungsgebiet ist vor allem die Mathematiktheorie, weitere Interessentgebiete sind Logik, Erkenntnistheorie, Metaphysik und Sprachphilosophie.
Seine sephardischen Eltern kamen aus Marokko, aber er wuchs in Paris auf. Sein Bruder ist der mit dem Nobelpreis ausgezeichnete Mediziner Baruj Benacerraf.

Am meisten bekannt ist er wohl für sein Artikel "What Numbers Could Not Be" (The Philosophical Review, Vol. LXXIV, No. l, Januar 1965) sowie für seine Mitherausgabe von Philosophy of Mathematics: Selected Readings.
Außerdem machte er sich als starker Kritiker des Platonismus einen Namen.
