Abu Fayed is a fictional character from the sixth season of the television series 24. He is played by actor Adoni Maropis.

Fayed formerly worked for a terrorist group led by Hamri Al-Assad. Following a series of devastating terrorist attacks on American targets that were supposedly masterminded by Assad, Fayed contacted the American government and offered to give up Assad's location in exchange for several demands, including $25 million, Jack Bauer, and the relevant government satellite protocols to ensure he wasn't tracked or followed. Fayed's brother had been killed by Jack during a military operation in Beirut back in 1999, and Fayed wanted retribution.

After being released from Chinese custody, Jack agreed to surrender himself to Fayed. While torturing Jack, Fayed revealed that he was behind the attacks, not Assad. Assad sought to legitimize his organization and had come to the United States to stop Fayed, and Fayed tricked the U.S. government into ordering an air strike on Assad. However, Jack escaped and got Assad out of the strike zone in time.

In the hours of 9:00 AM through 10:00 AM, after the final component of the nuclear bomb arrived, Fayed and a few of his men, entered a van and left the garage en route to a safe house, with four more suitcase nukes in tow. While they escape, federal agents storm Fayed's hideout where the first nuclear bomb is being held. Fayed's men manage to detonate it, destroying the suburb of Valencia and killing over twelve thousand people.

In the next hour, Fayed contacts Darren McCarthy and asks him to find someone who can help them program an arming device and use the remaining suitcase nukes. McCarthy ends up using Morris O'Brian.

Although Morris initially refuses to cooperate, Fayed gains his compliance by having his men beat him with a bat, attempt to drown him in water, and finally, torture him with a power drill. To prove that the arming device works, and to distract CTU, Fayed arms one of the suitcase nukes (which Jack eventually defuses) then escapes via medical helicopter, with the remaining three nukes and the arming device.

After landing at an undisclosed airfield, Fayed calls Dmitri Gredenko, who supplied him with the suitcase nukes. Gredenko reminds Fayed that their plans called for five nukes, not three. After being told that the delivery systems for the nukes will reach their destination in two hours, Fayed tells Gredenko to use that time to reconfigure his plans for three nukes.

It is revealed in the 2:00-3:00 PM episode that Fayed is being used as a pawn by Gredenko, and that Gredenko plans to have him eliminated once he fulfills his usefulness. As Fayed meets with Gredenko in the Mojave Desert, they plan to use remote controlled drones to launch the last three nukes at high-profile targets. The first such attack — made on San Francisco — failed as the drone was crash-landed by Jack, releasing radioactive material into an industrial park which will only produce minimal casualties. The increasing failures on the part of both Fayed and Gredenko have strained the already tenuous relationship between the two terrorist leaders.

With over 12,000 killed in Valencia from the suitcase nuke, as well as over a thousand more dead in the preceding attacks, Fayed has successfully killed more American citizens than any previous 24 antagonist by far.
Adoni Maropis previously played another character in a fourth season episode of 24, though his scenes were completely cut from that episode.
