Abu Nasir (Iraqi tribe)
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Albu [sic] Nasir is a tribe in Iraq, in the sunni triangle.[1] Saddam Hussein is from the Bayjat clan, within the tribe. He drew heavily upon those from his tribe to fill the senior cadre of his leadership. According to the shikhs of Tikrit Mawloud Mukhlis, they are of unknown lineage and had came to settle outside of the Tikrit in a place called a Awja. In his book, The Tirbes of Iraq, Alazawi reports that they were of Jiran Shammar. Those are small tribes tha seek protection from larger ones like shammar.
