[edit] Interests
I am avidly interested in history, religion, and politics. In particular, I am most interested in history relating to the Middle-East, specifically Israel and the Arab-Israeli Conflict, and history and practices of religions, specifically Abrahamic religions. I am also interested in the history and culture of the Far East, particularly that of Japan. However, I often find myself taken down the inevitable rabbit holes of Wikipedia, reading and researching a wide variety of subjects.

- You have heard that it was said, "Love your neighbor and hate your enemy." But what I tell you is this: Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you; only so can you be children of your Father in Heaven, who makes His sun shine on good and bad alike, and sends His rain on the honest and the dishonest. For if you love only those who love you, what reward can you expect? Do not even the tax collectors do the same? And if you greet only your brothers, what is there extraordinary about that? Even the heathen do as much. There must be no limit to your goodness, just as your heavenly Father’s goodness knows no bounds. —Jesus, Saint Matthew's the Gospel of Matthew (5:43-48)
- "If a man is called to be a street sweeper, he should sweep streets even as Michelangelo painted, or Beethoven played music, or Shakespeare wrote poetry. He should sweep streets so well that all the hosts of Heaven and Earth will pause to say, 'Here lived a great street sweeper who did his job well.'" —Martin Luther King, Jr.
- "Am I not destroying my enemies when I make friends of them?" —Abraham Lincoln
- "Great spirits have always found violent opposition from mediocrities. The latter cannot understand it when a man does not thoughtlessly submit to hereditary prejudices but honestly and courageously uses his intelligence." —Albert Einstein
- All that is gold does not glitter,
Not all those who wander are lost.
The old that is strong does not wither,
Deep roots are not reached by the frost.
From the ashes a fire shall be woken,
A light from the shadows shall spring.
Renewed shall be blade that was broken,
The crownless again shall be king.
- —Bilbo Baggins in J.R.R. Tolkien's The Lord of the Rings, 1954.
- For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then we shall see face to face.
Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known.
So faith, hope, love abide, these three; but the greatest of these is love. —Paul of Tarsus, First Epistle to the Corinthians (13:12-13)
