Al Hisn

Al Hisn (Arabic: الحصن )is a town in northern Jordan, located 65 km north of Amman, and about 7 km south of Irbid. It has a population of 13,000. The region has extremely fertile soil, which, along with the moderate climate allows the growing of high quality crops. Al Hisn was known for its high quality wine; now its main products are wheat and olive oil.

Al hisn was known as Dion, when the Romans occupied north of Jordan. According to graves in the area, Al Hisn has been inhabited for about three thousand years. It is one of the first towns in Jordan to declare Christianity as the official religion, therefore, the majority of Al hisin inhabitants until today are Christians.
Al Hisn is famous for its Roman-era artificial hill. Al Hisn has one of the oldest Orthodox churches in Jordan. The church was built in 1886 and there are 2 more churches beside the Orthodox church which are the Catholic Church and Eastern Catholic Church.

There is a number of high schools in al hisn that the locals study in it , and it has a university college which provide bachelor degree in number of majors . Al Hisn registered in Jordanian government under the name Al Husun
