Albanians in Belgrade

Belgrade, Serbia, has a small Albaniancommunity. In the census of 1981, 8,212 Albanians were registered. In 1991 there lived only 4985 Albanians in Belgrade. After the Kosovo War this number decreased to 1492.
After that nationalists came to power in Serbia many Albanians began to flee Belgrade. Once the bombing of Yugoslavia in 1999 started the attacks against Belgrade- Albanians increased. Many hundreds choose to escape to other neighbouring countries such as Bosnia.[1]
